Planes Over Auschwitz

Tomorrow will mark eighty years since Soviet soldiers stumbled upon the worst that humanity can offer. Further west, American, Canadian, and British troops would do likewise. The hell of Auschwitz showed us the depths to which humanity can sink, providing humanity a shocking introduction to the concept of industrialized murder. Six million Jews would perish in what would become known as the Holocaust, and many more are left scarred to this day by one of the most profound intergenerational traumas imaginable.
Today, Nazi Germany is long since defeated and the Jewish people have a country and an army to ensure that Auschwitz, a consequence of Jewish defenselessness, can never happen again. However, that should not be cause for the happy illusion that it cannot happen again, or that there aren't literally millions working so that it can happen again, by using both warfare and lawfare to undermine the ability of the world's only Jewish state to defend itself.
When you see that squadron of planes over Auschwitz tomorrow, you are seeing more than a tribute or a show of force. You are seeing a solemn, sacred promise etched in blood. Just like Masada will never be allowed to happen again, Auschwitz will never be allowed to happen again. The Red Cross can continue to be nothing but a glorified Uber. Amnesty International and Human Rights Watch can continue to be political prostitutes whoring themselves out to the most nefarious interests. That is their prerogative. They can foment whatever hate they wish, but those planes over Auschwitz are a reminder that their plans are doomed to failure.
Meanwhile, here in Canada, the big city mayors can continue to ignore the antisemitic hate mobs on their streets, or even provide them tacit support. The prime minister and the foreign minister can continue to speak out of both sides of their mouth whilst minding the demographics of their ridings whilst propagating UN sponsored blood labels meant to impede the rescue of hostages from the underground Auschwitz below Gaza. The planes over Auschwitz are a message to them also, that their hypocrisy and duplicity are seen and noted.
Tomorrow will be a reminder to the Jewish community and its allies that antisemitism is worth fighting against, especially now as living memory of the Holocaust fades. It becomes even more important as the Holocaust is again weaponized by the enemies of the Jewish people to both corrupt the historical memory of the Holocaust, and to advance their agenda of setting the stage for a new one. The post October 7th world is one where the blinders have been removed. There are no gray areas anymore. You stand with the victims, or like the UN and the kleptocracies waging a legal war against the Jewish state at the ICC, you stand with the perpetrators. Those planes over Auschwitz therefore also represent the choice that humanity is confronted with in 2025. Will we honor the promise of “never again”, or are we going to debase ourselves by standing with those who want Auschwitz to happen all over again.
The last piece of symbolism that those planes represent is a heroic story of survival. Through the centuries, the Jewish people have been marked for extermination, again, and again, and again. I won’t expound on this. Former Israeli air force commander Amir Eshel already said what needed to be said, so I will leave you with his words: “We pilots of the Air Force, flying in the skies above the camp of horrors, arose from the ashes of the millions of victims and shoulder their silent cries, salute their courage and promise to be the shield of the Jewish people and its nation Israel.”.
