The New Tyranny

The next tyranny will not be one of the two great tyrannical systems of the last century but a new tyranny that we do not yet know. Probably, it will draw from the current Chinese tyranny but it will be indigenous to the west. We will embrace our subjugation. We will trade freedom for comfort. The west will clamor for a Caesar. We already see the signs.

The next tyranny will be a true surveillance state, where our conversations, our writings, our transactions, and even our thoughts are visible to the state. It will be the first post-Orwellian tyranny, that is the first to go beyond the level of thought policing and control that Orwell could foresee in his day. Remember, there is much technology that Orwell never saw or could even imagine that currently exists or will exist by the time the west embraces the new Caesarism that will be put to the service of the new tyranny.

The next tyranny will also be the first true global empire. Even the British Empire which spanned across all continents never existed free of competition or with influence in every single nation. The previous great empires ruled over their world, not the world. The next great empire will. The world is now sufficiently well connected for it and the world order altering conflict from which such an empire can arise seems close at hand.

In closing, be warned that the liberal world order that currently exists is in great peril.

There is still time to change the road we are on, to dismiss the whispering wind of the piper calling us to join him. But I fear that this time has grown short. We are on the highway to the new order. We are ever readier for Caesar's crossing of the Rubicon. And when that time comes, I fear we will be ready to fall in love with our chains.
